My career as stringed instrument maker has given me the opportunity to meet some of the most exceptional guitar and bass players. These musicians with whom I have the chance to collaborate, help me progress and with their insight led to even finer Lairat instruments. Their musical sense along with their feel, experience and feedback assisted in making the right choices in exquisite tone woods, the best possible hardware and electronics. I craft my guitars and basses to be the best possible conduct for a player’s emotions.

Jazz and fusion filled Gabriel’s ears as a baby. As a toddler he’d call out “the bass! the bass!” in the car and at concerts and festivals. The moment he was shown a Jaco Pastorius video at age 2, he was hooked. His first experience learning to groove with a band was at age 7, just a few months after starting lessons. He joined a young Motown tribute band that gained significant recognition in his area, performing at community events, benefits, music festivals, and on radio and TV. While learning the Motown classics, he would challenge himself by transcribing jazz and fusion bass solos. At age 11, Gabriel recorded a video playing Jaco’s challenging bass solo in the Weather Report tune, “Havona”. That video and many more showcasing Gabriel’s diverse skills and musicianship grabbed international attention and set his professional career into motion. He became the first Markbass Rising Star, joined the Ernie Ball Music Man family of artists, developed a custom line of bass strings made by Carlos Pavicich in France, and recently became an endorsing artist for the Paul Lairat fretless Stega bass.
